The Rapsodo MLM2 Pro Premium subscription costs A$299.99 a year in Australia (US$199.99 in the US), with two-year and lifetime options, when we checked on 27 September 2026. You can use the MLM2 Pro without it, but spin, simulated courses, the fancy video replays and third-party simulator apps all sit behind Premium.
So the real question is not "do I have to pay?" but "which bits do I actually need?". This guide lays out the prices, what is in and out, and how to decide.

A few things worth knowing:
- The US page labelled the two-year and lifetime prices as a limited-time offer at the time we checked. Prices and offers change, so check the current page before you buy.
- The Australian price is higher than a straight currency conversion of the US price. That is simply what Rapsodo's Australian store listed.
- Rapsodo's current US and Australian pages say a 45-day Premium trial comes with a new MLM2 Pro and rolls into a paid year unless you cancel. Some older reviews (for example Plugged In Golf in October 2024) describe a full free first year, so the offer has changed over time.
For context, the unit itself was listed at A$899 on rapsodo.com.au (RRP A$1,099) and US$599.99 on rapsodo.com on the same date. The older Rapsodo MLM has its own, cheaper Premium plan (US$99.99 a year on the US site).
What Premium includes
Rapsodo's membership page lists these as Premium features:
- Simulated golf: more than 30,000 courses and virtual ranges.
- Measured spin rate and spin axis (you also need Titleist or Callaway RPT balls).
- Impact Vision: slow-motion video of impact and the first part of the ball flight.
- Multi-angle Shot Vision replay, including a second angle from your phone.
- R-Cloud: your shot library online (Rapsodo describes it as a 10,000 shot library).
- Rapsodo Combine and R-Speed (speed training).
- Third-party simulator apps: GSPro, E6 and Awesome Golf.
What works without a subscription
The MLM2 Pro still works as a launch monitor on the free tier. Rapsodo's own descriptions of exactly how many metrics you get for free have varied between pages over time (its membership and product pages talk about 15 metrics in total, while an older Rapsodo blog listed 11 free and 13 with Premium). What is consistent across Rapsodo's pages is this:

If you mostly want ball speed, launch and carry to check your gapping at the range, free is usable. If you want spin (which tells you a lot about strike and loft) or you want to play courses in the garage, you need Premium.
Is Premium worth it?
It depends on what you are trying to do.
Worth it if:
- You want spin. Spin rate is one of the most useful numbers for fixing ballooning drivers and weak irons (see our spin rate guide).
- You want to play simulated rounds on wet winter nights.
- You want to run GSPro or E6 on a PC or iPad.
- You want your shot history saved and exportable.
Maybe skip it if:
- You mostly practise at the range and care about carry distances and dispersion.
- You are happy to write your averages down after each session.
- Budget is tight and you would rather spend the money on a lesson.
A practical approach: use the included trial properly. Hit a few structured sessions with RPT balls and see whether spin changes what you work on. If it does, pay for the year. If you never look at it, you have your answer.
The lifetime option: the maths
At the Australian prices we saw, lifetime (A$999.99) costs the same as about 3.3 years of annual Premium (3 x A$299.99 = A$899.97). If you are confident you will still be using the MLM2 Pro in four years, lifetime works out cheaper. If you might upgrade hardware, the annual plan keeps you flexible. Lifetime means the lifetime of the membership on that product, so read Rapsodo's terms before buying.
Hidden extra costs to budget for
- RPT balls for spin. A sleeve of three comes in the box.
- Third-party simulator licences. Premium unlocks the connection, but apps like GSPro charge their own fee (GSPro's knowledge base quotes $250 a year).
- A PC or iPad capable of running your chosen simulator.
- Net, mat and screen if you are building a home setup.
