The Rapsodo MLM2 Pro and Garmin Approach R10 cost about the same in Australia, but they measure the ball differently. The MLM2 Pro uses two cameras plus radar and measures spin directly with RPT balls. The R10 is radar only and generally calculates spin, especially indoors. If spin matters to you (and for fixing your ball flight it should), the MLM2 Pro has the edge. If you want the cheaper subscription, a longer battery and no fussing with special balls, the R10 makes a strong case.

The big difference: how spin is measured
Spin rate is one of the most useful numbers on a launch monitor. It explains ballooning drivers, weak irons and why your 7 iron will not stop on the green. See our spin rate by club guide for targets.
MLM2 Pro. Rapsodo says a Titleist or Callaway RPT ball is required for spin. These balls have a printed pattern the cameras read. Rapsodo lists measured spin rate and spin axis as a Premium feature. Without RPT balls, spin is simply not shown, rather than guessed. Rapsodo claims its RPT spin is within 1 percent of high-priced launch monitors. That is a manufacturer claim, but Plugged In Golf's October 2024 review, testing against a Foresight GCQuad, found MLM2 Pro spin within 200 rpm on every RPT shot.
Garmin R10. Radar tracks the ball's flight. Indoors, the ball only travels about 2.4 metres before the net, which is not much flight to read. Garmin's own user forum and several reviewers note the R10 calculates spin rather than measuring it directly in those conditions, and shows calculated values in italics. We could not access Garmin's accuracy FAQ page to quote it, so check it yourself before buying if spin is your main concern.
What that means for you. If you mainly want ball speed, launch and carry to know your yardages, both do the job. If you want reliable spin, especially in a garage, the MLM2 Pro's camera system is the reason to pick it.
Setup and space
Both units sit behind the ball and both need at least 2.4 metres from ball to net. The R10's recommended distance is a touch shorter (1.8 to 2.4 m) than the MLM2 Pro's (2.0 to 2.6 m), so the R10 may squeeze into a slightly shorter room.
The practical differences:
- Light. The MLM2 Pro uses cameras, so Rapsodo asks for a well-lit space. The R10 is radar only, so dim garages bother it less.
- Weather. The R10 is rated IPX7. Rapsodo says the MLM2 Pro is not water resistant.
- Battery. Garmin quotes up to 10 hours for the R10. Rapsodo quotes 2 to 4 hours in the manual and about 4 hours in its FAQ. For a long range session, the R10 wins.
- Balls. The R10 does not need special balls. The MLM2 Pro needs RPT balls for spin only.

Video and feedback
The MLM2 Pro's cameras record Shot Vision (down-the-line video with a shot tracer) and Impact Vision (240 fps impact video) straight from the unit. For seeing strike and face contact, that is a genuine advantage. The R10 relies on your phone camera for swing video. See does the MLM2 Pro have a shot tracer?.
Simulators and courses
- MLM2 Pro: Rapsodo lists more than 30,000 simulated courses and virtual ranges in Premium, plus GSPro, E6 and Awesome Golf connections (Premium required, and those apps charge their own licences).
- R10: Garmin's January 2026 update brought a standalone Home Tee Hero app for the R10 with more than 43,000 courses. Garmin Golf membership unlocks Home Tee Hero rounds among other features. Retailers list E6 Connect, Awesome Golf and TGC 2019 compatibility, and third-party sites list GSPro.

Using the prices we saw on 27 September 2026, and ignoring sales that come and go:

That is a real difference. If you will use Premium features every week, the MLM2 Pro's spin and video justify it for many golfers. If you will not, the R10 is the better value, or you can run the MLM2 Pro on its free tier.
What about the Garmin R50?
People search "MLM2 Pro vs R50", but they are different leagues. The R50 has three high-speed cameras, a built-in 10 inch touchscreen and its own simulator. Garmin's SRP is US$4,999.99, and Drummond Golf listed it at A$8,498.95 in September 2026. It competes with premium camera units, not with the MLM2 Pro.
Our verdict
- Pick the Rapsodo MLM2 Pro if you want measured spin, built-in impact and tracer video, and you practise indoors a lot. It is the more complete improvement tool, and it is what Pickle Shot is being built for first.
- Pick the Garmin R10 if price over three years matters most, you want a 10 hour battery and weather rating for range sessions, and ball speed, launch and carry are enough for you.

Which is more accurate, the Rapsodo MLM2 Pro or the Garmin R10?
For spin, the MLM2 Pro has the edge on paper because it measures spin with cameras when you use RPT balls, while the radar-only R10 generally calculates spin, especially indoors. For ball speed and launch both are generally regarded as solid for home use. We found no independent head-to-head accuracy test of the two from a major publication, so treat any single verdict with care.
Is the Garmin R10 cheaper than the MLM2 Pro in Australia?
It depends on the week. On 27 September 2026 the MLM2 Pro was A$899 on Rapsodo's Australian store, while the R10 was A$749 on sale at GolfBox (out of stock) and A$998.95 at Drummond Golf (sold out online). Subscriptions differ too: Rapsodo Premium was A$299.99 a year and Garmin Golf membership A$144.99 a year in the Australian App Store.
Which is better indoors?
Both need about 2.4 m (8 ft) from ball to net. The MLM2 Pro's cameras let it measure spin in a short indoor flight when you use RPT balls, which is its biggest indoor advantage. It does need good light. The R10 is radar only, so light matters less, but spin indoors is calculated.
Does the Garmin R10 work with GSPro?
Third-party retailers list the R10 as compatible with GSPro, E6 Connect, Awesome Golf and TGC 2019. The MLM2 Pro works with GSPro, E6 and Awesome Golf through Rapsodo Premium. Each simulator has its own licence cost.
What about the Garmin R50?
The R50 is a very different product: three high-speed cameras, a built-in 10 inch touchscreen and a built-in simulator, at US$4,999.99 SRP and around A$8,500 at Drummond Golf in September 2026. It competes with premium units, not with the MLM2 Pro.
