The Rapsodo MLM2 Pro is the cheapest of these four in Australia and the only one here with a built-in shot tracer video, but it needs a Premium subscription and RPT balls for spin. SkyTrak+ and Mevo Gen2 cost two to four times as much upfront, Square Golf sits beside the ball instead of behind it, and Mevo+ is being run out. Which one wins depends on your budget, your space and whether you hate subscriptions.

Rapsodo MLM2 Pro
What it is: a small unit that sits 2.0 to 2.6 metres behind the ball, with an Impact Vision camera (240 fps), a Shot Vision camera and Doppler radar. Rapsodo lists eight measured metrics (ball speed, club speed, launch angle, launch direction, angle of attack, club path, spin rate and spin axis) and calculates the rest.
Strengths: lowest price here, measured spin with RPT balls, built-in slow-motion impact and tracer video, more than 30,000 courses with Premium, GSPro, E6 and Awesome Golf support.
Trade-offs: Premium is needed for spin, courses and third-party apps. It needs good light. Battery is 2 to 4 hours.
Accuracy: Plugged In Golf tested it against a Foresight GCQuad in October 2024 and found ball speed within 1 mph, carry within about 3 yards, and spin within 200 rpm with RPT balls. More in is the MLM2 Pro accurate?.
SkyTrak+
What it is: a camera-based unit that sits beside the ball, with dual Doppler radar added. SkyTrak lists carry, total, ball speed, back spin, side spin, descent angle, side angle, launch angle and shot shape, plus club head speed, smash factor, club path and face angle.
Strengths: measures spin without special balls, face angle data, a well-established simulator ecosystem with Foresight and Trackman course options on higher plans.
Trade-offs: price. At A$3,495.99 (GolfBox, out of stock when we checked, RRP A$4,995) it is nearly four times the MLM2 Pro. SkyTrak's membership plans run from a free Basic range tier to US$599.99 a year for Elite, per SkyTrak's own guide.
Best for: golfers building a proper simulator room who want spin without thinking about balls.
FlightScope Mevo+ (and Mevo Gen2)
What it is: a radar unit that sits about 8 feet (2.4 metres) behind the ball. FlightScope's Fusion Tracking combines radar with camera imaging. It reports 20 or more parameters.
Status: FlightScope's own page says Mevo+ is in its "final sales phase, limited stock", at US$1,099 clearance. The Net Return listed it at A$2,695 in Australia. The newer Mevo Gen2 is US$1,299, with A$2,199 at The Net Return and A$2,299 at Home Golf Australia.
Strengths: no recurring fees, which is a big deal over several years. E6 Connect courses are included (12 with Mevo+, 8 with Gen2). The optional Pro Package (US$599 on sale, A$999 in Australia) adds 11 club metrics as a one-off purchase.
Trade-offs: higher upfront cost in Australia, and the extra club data costs extra.
Best for: people who hate subscriptions and will keep the unit for years.
Square Golf
What it is: a camera-based unit that sits beside the ball. Square Golf's Home Edition reports ball speed, direction, launch angle, spin, apex, carry, run and total, plus club path, face, dynamic loft and angle of attack.
Price: US$699 on Square Golf's site, and A$1,199.99 at Bayside Golf in Australia. There is no subscription, and it comes with 1,000 free credits. The bigger Square Omni (US$1,599, A$2,999 at Bayside) adds club speed, smash factor and impact location, and works with GSPro, E6 Connect and Awesome Golf.
Strengths: no subscription, beside-the-ball setup can suit shorter rooms, face data.
Trade-offs: the Home Edition does not list club speed or smash factor, which are two numbers we lean on heavily (see smash factor explained). It costs more than the MLM2 Pro in Australia.
Rapsodo MLM vs MLM2 Pro
Plenty of people search for this, so briefly: the original Rapsodo MLM is A$299.95 on Rapsodo's Australian store (RRP A$399.95). It is iPhone and iPad only, uses your phone's camera, and has its own cheaper Premium plan (US$99.99 a year in the US). The MLM2 Pro has its own two cameras plus radar, measures spin with RPT balls, adds club data and works on iOS and Android. If you are serious about improving, the MLM2 Pro is the one to get.
Rapsodo MLM2 Pro vs Trackman
Different leagues. Trackman units are professional tools used by tour players, coaches and fitters, at many times the price. The fair question is whether the MLM2 Pro is good enough for an amateur trying to improve, and the independent testing we found suggests it is, as long as it is set up well.

They are different classes of device. Trackman units are professional tools at many times the price. In Plugged In Golf's 2024 test against a Foresight GCQuad, the MLM2 Pro's ball speed was within 1 mph and carry within about 3 yards, which is very good for home use, but it is not a Trackman replacement for fitters or tour coaches.
